David Oakley
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
David is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Oakley Group and its affiliated companies. In this role, David leads the strategic direction of the firm, focusing on identifying new investment opportunities, shaping the vision for each portfolio property, and cultivating strong equity partnerships.
Previously, David served as Senior Managing Director of the Alabama office of Berkadia, LLC—a joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Jefferies Financial Group—where he specialized in delivering a fully integrated capital markets and sales platform for multifamily owners. Throughout his career, David has successfully closed over $8 billion in multifamily transactions. David is also the founder of Select My Space, an apartment leasing company, and Blue Canoe Properties, a property management firm based in Birmingham. He successfully exited these ventures in 2012 and 2014, respectively. He has been actively acquiring and renovating multifamily properties since 2003.
A native of Florence, Alabama, David is a summa cum laude graduate of Samford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He remains deeply engaged in the Birmingham community, serving on the Board of Advisors for Samford’s Brock School of Business and the YMCA of Greater Birmingham. He is also a founder and past board member of Red Mountain Grace, a faith-based nonprofit that provides housing for out-of-town patients and caregivers during extended medical treatments. David enjoys water sports and traveling with his wife, Mallory, and their four children: Ryan, Leta, Nolan, and Millie.
